66 Church, a restaurant and gastropub in New Haven County located at 66 Church St. in Naugatuck, announced on Tuesday, Oct. 8 that it would be closing for good "in the next few weeks."

Although no specific reason for the decision was given, the owners thanked its longtime customers for helping the business through the pandemic and "a horrible economy."

"We’re endlessly grateful for the support you’ve shown us, especially during the pandemic. You kept us going when times were tough, and for that, we’ll be forever thankful," the owners wrote in their announcement.

Originally opening in 2015, since then, the eatery has focused on injecting "fresh, lively energy" into downtown Naugatuck through events like Taco Tuesdays with DJs, weekend brunches, trivia nights, and more.

"Every week, we aimed to be the go-to spot for good vibes, great drinks, and even better company," the owners said, also saying that over time, their regulars "became more than just customers—they became family."

Although the end is on the horizon for 66 Church, visitors can still enjoy its daily specials, live music, rotating taps, and events until the closure. Menu items include tacos with shrimp, buffalo chicken, pork shoulder, and more; bone-in and boneless wings; mac and cheese, including the "BBQ pork mac attack" with frizzled onions; and burgers.

The drink list also features fall-themed drinks like apple peach margaritas and "the nutty pumpkin," as well as signature spiked lemonades and wine.

As for what's next after the restaurant eventually closes, a new spot with new owners will take over the property.

"Stay tuned—you won’t want to miss what’s coming!" 66 Church's owners wrote on social media.
